Gurudwara Sri Garhi Sahib, Samana
Gurudwara Sri Garhi Sahib is situated in the Samana city district Patiala. When Sri Guru teg Bahadur Sahib ji started his journey towards Delhi, he came cam here via-Kiratpur Sahib, bharatgarh Sahib, Ropar, makar, kabulpur, Bahadurgarh and moti baag. Guru Sahib came to the place of Sai Anayat ali. Bhikhan shah owner of the near by garhi was also great follower of Guru Sahib, he offered lots of gifts for Guru Sahib. One day nawab bjikhan shah met muslim soldiers who came here to arrest Guru Sahib. On conversation nawab bhikhan shah told them that samana is place of pure muslim so sikh suru cannt stay here. And later he himself came to Guru Sahib and told him the whole story and requested to accompany with him to garhi. Nawab requested Guru Sahib that it will be shame on his family that we got you arrested from our home. So from there onwards Guru Sahib left towards nawab bhikhan shah’s garhi.
Nawab Bhikhan Shah, a muslim who owned a nearby Garhi (fort), was a great follower of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Nawab knew that Guru Tegh Bahadur was a man of God and offered many gifts for Guru Ji. The village had mughal spies who had informed the authorities that Guru Tegh Bahadur was nearby. Nawab Bhikhan Shah met muslim soldiers who had some to Samana to arrest Guru Ji.
Nawab Bhikhan Shah told the soldiers that Samana was a place for pure muslims and so a Sikh Guru could not stay there. Later, Bhikhan Shah told Guru Tegh Bahadur the whole story and asked Guru Ji to accompany him back to his garhi. This is where Gurdwara Sri Garhi Sahib Samana is located. Bhikhan Shah said that it would bring huge shame on his family if Guru Tegh Bahadur was arrested in Samana, and his home, which is why he wanted to help Guru Ji.
