Gurudwara Sri Bibeksar Sahib, Amritsar

Gurudwara Sri Bibeksar Sahib is situated in the Distt City Amritsar. Situated near Chattiwind gate it marks the place where Sri Guru HarGobind Sahib ji used to tie his horse with Kareer Tree. When ever Guru Sahib used to come back from hunting, he used to take rest at this lonely place for a while. Guru Sahib himself laid the foundation of the holy tank. (Sarovar) Here Guru Sahib used to discuss religious things with wise people.

Gurdwara Sri Bibeksar Sahib is situated on the banks of the Bibeksar Sarovar, built in 1628.

The sarovar was built by Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, Guru Ji laid the foundation of the sarovar himself. The present gurdwara was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh later.

The two ancient villages of Chattiwind and Sultanwind, now part of Amritsar city, border the gurdwara.

There used to be a beautiful garden nearby where Guru Hargobind would visit.

Guru Hargobind usually rested at the edge of the sarovar where Gurdwara Sri Bibeksar Sahib is located. Sometimes, Guru Hargobind held his evening meetings here.

This was also where the Guru Hargobind organized his Sikhs as a military following skirmishes with the mughal forces.

The Karir tree marks the place where Guru Hargobind used to tie his horse; this tree can still be seen.
