Gurudwara Sri Sehra Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi

Gurudwara Sri Sehra Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi is dedicated to Guru Aijan who passed through Sultanpur in 1604 on his way to Dalla for the marriage of his son (Guru) Hargobind.According to tradition, the marriage party stayed overnight at this place and the sehra, or ceremonial wreath was fastened round the bridegroom`s head here. The Gurdwara, within a brickpaved walled compound, is an octagonal domed room in which the Guru Granth Sahib is seated.

Gurudwara Sri Sehra Sahib is situated in the Sultanpur lodhi city of district Kapurthala. Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji while going for marriage of his son (Guru) HarGobind Sahib ji stoped here for night. Next day they proceeded towards dalla. Along with Guru Sahib was Baba bhuda ji, Bhai Gurdas ji, Bhai Bhahlo ji, Bhai Shalo ji, Baba Bidi Chand ji.(Guru) HarGobind Sahib ji dressed up here and tied sehra on head hence the name of Gurudwara Sahib was named as Sehra Sahib.
