Mohali
The District of SAS Nagar is situated in Punjab State of Northwestern India. It is 1098 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by State Capital Chandigarh in the East, District Rupnagar in the North, Districts Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala in the South, District Ambala of Haryana State in the Southeast. The City of SAS Nagar Mohali is the headquarter of this District.
The foundation of Mohali City was laid in the late 1960’s as an Industrial Township. Soon residential areas were also constructed. Mohali has now become very densely populated City. The District of SAS Nagar was created on 14 April, 2006 out of areas taken from Rupnagar and Patiala Districts by Captain Amarinder Singh, Ex-Chief Minister of Punjab. The District is named after Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji , the Eldest Son of Tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji .
This District has been divided into 7 Tehsils and 3 Sub-Tehsils -Tehsils – Kharar , Zirakpur , Banur , Daon , Dhakoli , Mohali , SohanaSub-Tehsils – Kurali , Mattaur , Tiaur
