Gurudwara Lakhi Jungle Sahib – Mehma Sarjas
This Gurdwara is situated at a distance of 15 Km from Bathinda City and 6 Km from town Goniana Mandi on the way to Mukatsar City in Village Mehma Sarjas.
The First Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited this place and recited Holy 'Japji Sahib' for 1 Lakh times here. Guru Ji blessed the place by saying that whosoever will hear or recite 'Japji Sahib' on 'Puranmashi' (the full moon Day) and take bath here in this holy sarovar, all his wishes would be fulfilled. At that time a dense forest (Jungle in Punjabi) existed here and since Guru Ji recited 'Japji Sahib' for 1 Lakh times, hence this Gurdwara is known as Lakhi Jungle Sahib.
The Sixth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji visited this place, while on his way from Delhi to Lahore. Guru Ji had tied Chandu (who was responsible for the martyrdom of Fifth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji) with a Karir tree, which still exists here. That Karir is known as Killa Sahib.
The Seventh Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Har Rai Ji also visited this place during his journeys.
The Tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this place and blessed this place as 'Place of liberation'. Guru Ji took the milk of Brown and Black Cow of Bhai Soma Ji and blessed him with milk and son. Guru Ji brushed his teeth with a twig of a tree and buried that twig at this place, which sprouted and has now become a full fledged tree of Phalahi. A Sarovar of Bhai Bhagtu Ji exists nearby. Guru Ji arranged the third Kavi Darbar (a gathering of Poets) at this place.
