In the 1920's, most of the Sikhs residing in Menglembu were either employed in the nearby tin mines or were bullock cart drivers. These Sikhs built a small wooden Gurdwara Sahib in Falim, Menglembu in early 1929. This Gurdwara Sahib was only used as a place of prayer for less than six months, following which it was vacated.

The present Gurdwara Sahib in Menglembu was built on the present site in 1929, which was at that time a swamp. The Sikhs loaded their bullock carts with sand and stones which were used to fill up the marshy swamp. About 150 Sikhs did voluntary service to help with the construction of the Gurdwara Sahib. The Granthi, Bhai Isher Singh, laid the foundation stone after doing the ArDas prayer. This Gurdwara was built on concrete stilts with wooden walls at a cost of about Straits Settlements $400.00. The completed Gurdwara Sahib building was declared open by the sangat in late 1929 at which occasion a jormela was held.

Most of the religious functions were held in the late evenings as the Sikhs were busy during the day with their various occupations. The langgar hall, kitchen, Granthi's quarters and one room for Sikh visitors is located in a single storey wooden building on the left side of the Gurdwara Sahib. The Management Committee comprises of the President, Secretary, Treasurer, their assistants and five committee members. There are presently about 55 families residing in this area who participate in the religious activities held in this Gurdwara Sahib. The religious programme is held once a month on the Sangrand day from 7.00p.m. to 8.30p.m. The main religious Gurpurabs are also celebrated on the relevant dates. Other religious programmes are held as and when necessary at the request of the Sangat.
