Gurudwara Sahib Yiwu China

Sikhs have been in China since 1842, when the British army had some Sikh soldiers who fought during the opium wars in China.

After the wars the British recruited many Sikhs to police the international trading settlement of Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Over 550 sikhs were employed in the Shanghai Municipal Police. They wore a signature red turban.
